So, continuing the story of Click…
Click has been through the washing machine with a couple of towels at 60 degrees -the pattern says 50 but whose machine has 50 degrees? Mine only has 40 or 60…..
When it came out, my fears about curling were founded. I had also rather overdone the the felting..
It was stiff and the curly edges had completely felted together. Emergency surgery was required.
I dunked Click into some warm water with a squirt of hair conditioner to hopefully lubricate the fibres and help me remould it. The curly edges were carefully peeled back with the aid of a very sharp craft knife at the point they felted to the main body. It was then blocked in the sun using my very useful metal garden table which has a lattice design (furniture for knitters….there’s an idea 💡 )
After much slicing, snipping, swearing, pulling and tugging I’ve ended up with this….
You can see down the sides just how much I had to trim to get the sides to unroll – it’s left bald bits!
It’s still a little damp and it’s still very “chunky” when rolled up. I think it can be saved with some clever finishing and maybe some more brute force bullying!
I had the same problems with the edges and a craft knife was also called upon. Your post title is very apt for this project as i recall.

No bright ideas from me I’m afraid – just a bit of sympathetic tutting…

Just thought I would let you know I finished spangled scarf – really pleased with it – I am hoping my daughter will be able to show me how to put the phtos from our digital camera on to the PC in the next couple of weeks – then I can let you see your design – I haven’t done the gloves, not too please with some of the gloves I have done previous, but intend to do another scarf.

I know you use yarns other than Rowan – I have mad a waistcoat with Sidar Sublime a while ago, have only just sewn it up, but am dissapointed as the yarn has bobbled and I haven’t even worn it yet, tried handwashing but no improvement, have you had any problems with this yarn?

On the Sublime yarn – I used the Sublime extra fine merino DK for the Big Frill Bolero and it was perfectly behaved – has been worn a great deal and no bobbling.

However, a knitterly friend of mine bought the Aran version and returned it after using just half a ball because it was so loosely wound and was bobbling badly. Are you using the Aran?
If you’re really unhappy, I’d recommend contacting Sirdar – you may have a bad batch. I only heard good things about how reasonable they are when contacted about problems.

Thanks for that information re sublime – I have phoned Sidar customer services and they have told me there was a problem with the Aran yarn, they are sending me a label so i can send them my finished item, they are going to have a look at it and see if they can do anything with it, plus they will compensate me.
I just wish I had mentioned it earlier, its been finished for nearly 2 months but because of the bobbling etc I didn’t have the enthusiasm to sew it up and the funny part is it went together like a dream.
I would certainly knit it again so I will let you know how I get on.
