Making my way through :P

I was just wondering what the tension is for the yarn of the scarf? I've got a friend who is moving a hour up the way to Aberdeen to go to Uni and winter is bitter cold there and want to make one as a good luck prez.
Thanks

Yummy scarf, looks very cozy, and I wouldn't have thought of adding buttons. One idea to stick in the back of my head. I find knitting great for distracting from the pain. Counting out the pattern in your head sends you into a sort of meditative state where nothing can touch you. Hope your dental problems are now all sorted.
