I usually have a pair of socks on the needles, ready to grab and stuff in my bag to keep me company when I’m flying. Even the most rigorous airport security has yet to give me grief over a set of 2.5mm wooden dpns and a ball of sock yarn. I take socks on the train and in the car too (not when I’m driving!) when my main WIP is too large, too complicated or has too many balls of yarn to carry.
I am very boring and knit the same of free Regia pattern for plain socks – sometimes it’s good to have something easy, plain and familiar to turn to – Sometimes I have to remind myself it doesn’t all have to be complicated knitting 🙂
So here we are – another very ordinary but strangely satisfying pair of socks in pretty self striping Regia yarn- started on the flight to Budapest last September and finished on the Train home from work in London on Friday.

I love the idea of having an ongoing travelling pattern. May have to start a little sock knitting bag!
I have that same yarn made up into socks. Regia is really the best for work-a-day socks.
They look very comfy and I love the colours.
I always have a pair of plain socks on the needles too. I try to carry them with me all the time. You just never know when you might need some emergency knitting!!
Have wooden needles and yarn ready for flight on Friday it’s the first time I will have knitted on a flight!
Wow! That is a cute sock. 🙂 I hope I can do that also, but the only thing that I can do with regards to socks is to buy them online at Legs Therapy (http://www.legstherapy.com/). Hope I can make one in the future, eh.
