An exciting, eventful month! Now to catch up with blogging it all…..
I had a holiday in Skiathos, Greece (hot, sunny, lovely beach holiday), My lovely sister Carol and her husband Steve stayed in my house and “cat sat” for me while we whooped it up in Skiathos (I had to make sure my tiny kitten was well cared for), I had a hideous five WIPs on the go and Purcey has been very ill.
Important things first – Purcey is all better 🙂
He suddenly stopped eating and after a couple of days was a bag of bones but still a happy playful chap but clearly getting weaker.Vets!! He had a high temperature and racing heart – two days and nights on a drip, antibiotics, appetite stimulants and some force feeding with a syringe and he has bounced right back. Vet suspected a virus??? I have never been moved to tears before by a kitten eating a plate of food like I was when I watched him devour an entire pouch of meat 🙂
Here’s the little beast – he’s growing fast!
Next, important thing to let you know – Carol did not have easy time cat sitting with Purcey – he would not let her knit! Carol was not impressed – neither was Ziggy!
So what about these five WIPSs? Little Miss “one WIP at a Time” is shamefaced.
WIP 1. You know about Autumn Rose – complicated fairisle that is “resting” while I buildup some more enthusiasm for concentrating hard on the horrid sleeves.
WIP 2. You also know about Vivaldi – That is going well – this is the knitting I’ve been slogging through in the last month. I’ve done the back and front and one enormous sleeve. The construction is really unusual – the top of the sleeve forms part of the back! More in another post on that one…
WIP 3. I couldn’t knit the Kidsilk Haze fluff of Vivaldi on holiday (sweaty hands and mohair – urgh!) so I started a Kim Hargreaves pattern, Jasmine in Jaeger Siena (snuffled up in the sales when Jaeger Siena was rebadged as Rowan Siena)
This is the pattern pic
Somehow I had delusions of finishing this on the holiday! Unfortunately I was only on the beach a week and wanted to read more than knit so this is all I managed 🙁
It’s going to be hard to focus on that now the weather has turned decidedly yucky 🙁
WIP 4. I didn’t have the right size circular needles for Jasmine and doubted I’d be allowed to take 2.75, metal, 12″ long needles on the plane. I can actually see the point that these could be used as an offensive weapon but I rail against the ban on all knitting implements on planes. So I started a sock as well – just for the plane – it’s a 3 hour flight and somehow, in my holiday delusional knitter’s state, I thought I’d finish 2 socks as well!
My usual boring plain sock in Jawoll Magic in shocking pinks. I have kidded myself this is my “Emergency travel knitting” so it’s not really a WIP (that delusion is getting worse).
WIP 5. Lastly I have my Kidsilk Haze Tabby Cat – just waiting for a gadget to make the icord ties and final finishing.
Well, it’s done! Next post in a few days will show it to you and show the gadget but as a sneak preview..
Here’s Purcey posing with me in Tabby cat…
