Vivaldi’s construction is unusual so I wanted to show you the peices layed out before sewing up – Purcey decided to lend a helpful paw…
He was quite well behaved and just observed the strangely short back…
This didn’t last long…
“I’ll just watch the strange shaped neck pieces….”
Then I’ll kill that loose bit of Kidsilk Haze for you 😉
Purcey is a camera hogging diva and even got a paw in when I tried a close up of the stitch pattern…
I did manage to get a shot of a very long sleeve without Purcey…
But that was because he’d worn himself out modelling and “helping”…
So enough of the gratuitous Purcey picture-show!! How are those strange shapes sewn together?
The very long sleeves are joined with a three needle bindoff to make what looks like a tiny shrug…
The shrug supposedly covers my back…
But I did notice while taking these photos, thse sleeves are very narrow – and tight under my arms. I’ll have another look but they may need a few more rows…
The front is equally strange, when sewn to the short back…
To be fair, they look just like they are supposed to when crossed over and the fit is just fine…
You join the long scarfie bits at the back of the neck. the gap at the back should be filled by the shrug like sleeve section…
See?
I’ll look again at those sleeves – this may take a while 🙁
Purcey said he has all the stuff out and is ready to help some more so that should make it easier – I hope!
I think Purcey is going to grow up to be a worthy successor as a knitting helper to my beloved old Thug – a very great compliment indeed 😀
Yea gods. Complex. I like the neckline thought and that colour is stunning on you. Good luck sorting those sleeves out.
It’s looking great I can’t wait to see it when I get back
Wow that is an unusual pattern but really beautiful. Love the colour and the lace. I look forward to seeing it all put together.
I really like the colour and the pattern is very pretty. I too look forward to seeing it when you’ve finished it!
Looking absolutely gorgeous S. And so is Vivaldi.
Great colour. I love Purcey. Can’t wait for the next update
Wow, it looks great and I, too, love the colour on you. Purcey is so sweet, I can’t wait to see how he helps you figure out the sleeves. Although as a new knitter, I can’t see that they look tight?!
That is gorgeous Susan, as always. I love your red blanket that Purcy is lying on, did you knit that?
Hi Caroline
No, unfortunately I can’t take credit for the Red Blankie- it was from John Lewis last year. It has a fleece backing which Purcey adores. Lots of pummeling and Purring when he curls up on a “fleecy bit”.
Does this make me a bad knitter that I bought a blanket and didn’t knit one??!! 🙂
Susan
What a great helper.. maybe Purcey needs a little kidsilk blanket 🙂 Loving Vivaldi’s construction..
Thanks for the detailed instructions! User incomprehensible. long tried to understand it.
