My “Completed Knit” Icon post could be very short.
The word, “WOW” is enough to sum it up!!
This dress is such a pleasure to knit and so bang on trend it hurts. It really is an “Iconic” knit.
I love, love love the way that you start at the bottom hem and the rows get shorter – you seem to accelerate and gain momentum as you reach the bodice š
After whizzing though the back, Ā it took a couple of weeks to find some quiet time to do the finishing.
I was worth the wait. Look at this!!

Isn’t that design just perfect?
So was there anything wrong with the dress? Ummmmm… No, not really! I knit exactly to the pattern except I short row shaped the shoulders. I kinda expected to have to shorten the shoulders straps because I’m not very tall but the dress has just molded to my shape and fits a treat.
One strange thing I did notice – it seems to attract static!! I had new tights on the first time I wore Icon (to the Guilty knitters of course!) and the static was enough to sound like crackly feedback!! My winter coat lining is also fun when worn with Icon. If I take off my coat in the dark I have my very own fireworks display!! My solution has been a quick squirt of febreeze over the dress – acts just like fabric softener without the need for washing it š
Perhaps the only thing I’d change on the dress is that it says to sew the side seams then work the armhole ribbing – I am not a natural magic looper so that was a pain for me – I’d prefer to just join the shoulders then for the armhole edging flat.
Oh and I must tell you about the buttons – old ones from my button box – just made for it…

I have worn this to my knitting group and to work to total admiration.
Even Ziggy quite likes it!

You should make Icon if you possibly can š

You look stunning in the dress Susan. Well done on finishing it, just in time for Christmas.
You are right…one word says it all – WOW!
Happy holidays
Pat
I knew you would look great in that dress. I can imagine that it will get many years of wear. I wish I could make it, but I can’t really afford to. Maybe I should ask for the yarn for my 40th birthday in a few months. That would be a fabulous present wouldn’t it!
That dress looks amazing!
Beautiful! You have every right to be so proud of that dress.
The dress looks absolutely fantastic!
Very WOW, on trend and it suits you beautifully. Would love to make it but not sure the style would suit my 63yr old figure. But would have had one in my younger days!!
