Captivate has been a real slog to get finished. Can you believe I started it at the end of August? Four and a bit months to make – with a rather nice Kitten Head Scarf in the middle of it though!
So why did it take so long? Tiny, tiny needles and me having a the horrid cold that everyone is getting. (I only really recovered over Christmas when I could rest properly.)
In my last post about Captivate, Toning Down the Fluff, I said I had gone up a needle size. For some strange reason, I didn’t. I used the given size needles. My tension was OK but I was worried.
I think this is why I wasn’t inspired and rushing to finish Captivate, deep down I feared the worst…
Is it too small? Actually, no! It is a little short though – sitting on my natural waist, not my hips (where my jeans normally sit). What do you think? I measured the length and I have made it exactly to the 22cm specified. It is, after all, described in the pattern as a “cropped cardigan”…
Here it is buttoned too…
Trouble is – as soon as I move it starts to ride up to my natural waist (those jeans sit on my hips).
Maybe I just need higher waist trousers!
Here’s a back view – starting to go North at the waist…
I think this is one for the summer, worn open with something pretty 😀
The stitch pattern is lovely and light and open but surprisingly warm. I love those strong “herringbone” vertical ribs too.
And the sleeves have a deep rib which I always like…
I need to photograph and post a couple of things I’ve made during the year that I’ve not blogged (gasp!) and start thinking about my Blogiversay post – how many years knit blogging??!
Just enough time for a completed knit report I think…

It looks great on you
I think it really suits you. It looks lovely.
It is lovely and I think you’re right, it will be perfect over a pretty summery something! I can picture you in a summer dress wearing the cardigan. I think its ‘croppedness’ would annoy me, but then I have a spare tyre that would make an appearance at every opportunity and you don’t!!!
Beautiful….very elegant
Gorgeous
It looks great and great color…but I understand the whole riding up concern…..
I think the style really suits you, but I agree that wearing it with something summery would be good. I think maybe if you were somewhere drafty you might be annoyed at there being a gap between the top of your jeans and the bottom of your cardigan. It would be a nice light cardigan to carry with you on a day out in case it got cool or to put on in the evening.
The fit is outstanding! Great job.
So pretty! I agree with the commenter above, the thing to do with a short cardigan is to pair it with a dress. It would be really cute both for summer and winter! Kudos to you for completing the “slog”. I always steer away from patterns that have you doing yarnovers etc on both sides–too confusing for me–but it makes a lovely sweater. Congrats on your blogiversary, it’s been nice to read about your knitting all these years 🙂
That looks great!! Love the colour… Perfect for these bleak winter days!
THAT is beautiful….so clever. I did laugh when you were shocked it had taken a ‘long’ 4 months to knit…it’d have taken me 4 years! 🙂
