Last time I told you about Heligan, she had been pushed to one side while I got excited about knitting the Icon dress.
She was in the middle of being sewn up and Kitty was lending a paw…
With the Christmas break (and Kitty’s help) I’ve finished and she is lovely – if a little “springlike” for the current snowy conditions 🙂
Firstly – I have to say what a well thought out and well written pattern this was. I’ve not knit Sasha Kagan before because she mainly does the most beautiful intarsia and I don’t enjoy intarsia. I am hoping she is going to write more patterns using her obvious skills with colour and design that are not intarsia – if she does, I’ll be first in the queue to knit them!
I had sewn the body pieces together ages ago but I was procrastinating the crochet edging – I don’t know why – it wasn’t hard and, with a little guidance from the guilty knitters and several episodes of “House” on the TV, I finished. I did the edging exactly to the pattern and the fit, I think, is spot on. The only thing I might change if I did it again was the picots for the button holes – a bit tight!! No problem to put and extra chain or two in there if you are sensible enough to test it with the buttons before you finish – guess which idiot didn’t think to do that… 😳
Here’s the finished garment and me waggling my glasses at the lovely Ben behind the camera..
And without the daft waggle
Here’s the sleeve…
And the bottom edge
And the buttons, sewn on every other picot…
Oh and I must show you how well the stripes matched up with the sleeves – details in the pattern to make this happen 🙂
And of course the obligatory back view!
At this point Ziggy was getting interested and watching the photo session and feeling a little left out (gratuitous cat shot!)
OK Ziggy – one last shot of you with me wearing Heligan 🙂
