Lots of you have asked about the cream cardigan I was wearing in the knitting film. You were also curious what the grey thing I was knitting was!
First the cardigan I was wearing…This one…
It’s called Joy from Kim Hargreaves Nectar book and is made in Rowan Denim. I call it my Honeymoon Knit because I knit it on the beach in Zanzibar on honeymoon! It’s a real favorite of mine – I wear it a heck of a lot.
I blogged all the details about it here if you want to know more (along with action shots of me knitting on the beach!!)…
But what about the grey thing I was knitting away at without looking all the time I was talking?
As I had been so bad and ashamed of myself at falling off the wagon and buying more Kidsilk Haze, I thought I’d better find a pattern to knit some up!
So I chose the pattern, Lysander…
from this book, Rowan’s Kidsilk Dream…
This is the Rowan pic
Hmmm – can’t really see much of the garment there can you?
I was persuaded seeing this lovely version made by FionaD on Ravelry
I fell in love with that soft drape in the neck. the tie thing kinda works for me too…
I’m knitting Lysander (Or Tabby Cat as I’m calling it) in grey Kidsilk Spray – Kidsilk Spray is a gently muted, variegated version of Kidsilk Haze that varies between light and dark of one colour. I have been guiltily stashing a bag of 10 balls for years, since it was discontinued and sold off in John Lewis’ sale 🙁
Wanna see it knitted up?
Wanna see why I’m calling it Tabby cat?
I love the way the yarn has fallen into those stripes. It really does remind me of a tabby cat.
Here’s a closeup of those stitches…
Now that I’m knitting the front, I know how that swag is achieved. The front is two thirds wider that the front!! (Back =99 stitches, front = 166!!) I really really hope this garment works and doesn’t just look like I knitted it wrong 😐
The front is rather huge – and all stocking stitch …
On the plus side it does have very pretty beads around the neck and bottom edges…
I wasn’t disciplined enough to work out exactly how many beads to use so I threaded “lots” onto my ball of KSH, used what I needed then broke the yarn and rejoined it to take away the remaining beads (now safely on a length of KSH in my knitting bag!!).
Should I be proud to say I had these beads in stash too? 🙂
So this is my current “Commuting Knitting” as it screws up to nothing in my handbag and is very plain easy stocking stitch – I’m kinda enjoying that though – I’m suddenly in the mood for some plain stocking stitch…
Gorgous!
I love it! Tabby cat suits it perfectly ^..^
Love the beaded edging!
looks just like a tabby cat
