The Salford Scarf took me 9 days to knit and it is lovely but jealousy may be a problem….
I was a little worried about giving it to Lawrence….not that I thought Lawrence wouldn’t like it but what his wife would make of it…especially as it was finished two days before Valentine’s day! Lawrence said he was going to wind her up playfully with comments such as, “If you learnt to knit I wouldn’t have to go to another woman!” Much fun was had speculating the jealousy potential of a knitted scarf 😀
And then there was the lovely Ben’s reaction to me knitting for another man…
“So what’s so special about this guy that you’re knitting for him huh? Hrumpffff….”
“You haven’t knitted me anything for ages…Hurumpf!” (From the man it took me 10 years to persuade to accept a knitted scarf!) Read about it Here and Here…
“That first jumper you knitted me is worn out and saggy. It’d be nice if you knitted me another one…Grumble…Mutter”
Wow – that was a first, Ben asking me to knit him a jumper!! Actually,I thought it was rather sweet that he bristled a little when I knit for another man – Awww. I’ll have to find the right pattern…
I also realized that I have never blogged this first jumper I made him – poor neglected Ben. Fuel for a future blog post 🙂
So do you want to see the source of such jealousy? I took a few photos of me wearing it, just in case Lawrence was camera shy…
This is my fave photo..

This one shows how big it is!

And, because I like to make you laugh at my expense, a very ugly, awkward photo of my “mid styling”! (Naughty Ben, snapping that one)

My fears that Lawrence was camera shy were unfounded. He loves the scarf and immediately put it on and started striking poses for me in the office – much to the rest of my team’s amusement!

Here’s a slightly less dramatic one…

Lawrence particularly liked the “Designer Label ” I had added…

And did I receive my bacon payment?
Oh Yes!
One heart-cloggingly delicious egg and bacon sandwich and a mug of tea 😀

Enjoyed while Lawrence wore his scarf which he has worn every day since I gave it to him 🙂

This project has been a lot of fun maybe I should consider knitting for other people more often- but you’re right – I should charge more than a bacon sandwich!!

It turned out great! The sandwich looks yummy…and Laurence is a character who looks awesome in his scarf..
Great oolour, great design. I am so jealous.
Looks great. The bacon sandwich I mean!
Is it wrong that I want to compliment the sandwich???? The scarf looks great, no wonder you fancy making another one.
All that time you wanted to knit Ben a scarf, if only you’d realised all you had to do was knit another man one! Think I prefer Ben’s scarf though, but then I’m a sucker for stripes. The cable pattern on this one is really nice where you have it spread out, I think it’d be nice on a big baggy jumper for snuggling up in. (Says the woman whose biggest garment to date was a cardy for a three year old)
Lovely scarf and excellent modelling! So, will we be seeing Ben in lots of hand knits now? Will you be a ‘faithful’ knitting wife!
OMG!!! Ben was a little bit jealous! I must say I loved the scarf but what I loved the most was the label!
I love your friend’s comment, “if you learned to knit I wouldnt have to go to another woman!” Too funny. And Ben’s reaction, harumph, mutter…so cute! Now I wonder what my hubby is thinking (but not saying) when I knit my piano teacher Christmas gifts…
Love the label! Did you make it or buy it?
