Work has been quite busy – The move to Agile and a pretty heavy training course with lots of home work has stolen my blogging time. I have, however, managed to keep up my “Commuting Knitting” 🙂
Can you guess what I’ve made? Is the title of this post a spoiler?
Ok – here it is…
It’s Camilla – a lovely pattern from by Kari-Helene Rane at Purl Alpaca Designs – These are the same designer and yarn that were responsible for my fabulous Icon Dress.
This is the pattern photo…
I went to the Knitting and Stitching show at Olympia in March and sought out Purl Alpaca. I bought the kit to make Camilla and two other projects (coming soon!) I was so pleased with Icon I had to go back and have more 🙂
So how was Camilla to knit? Surprisingly detailed! There are 4 panels, divided by a cable. The panels have lace and bobbles that you juggle while working the decreases for the hat. Sounds hard? Not so bad as the pattern was really clearly written – I was very happy working though it on a long circular needle and “magic looping” on the train.
So want to see more?
Here’s one of the lovely way the panels and cables meet at the crown…
And a side view…
Blurry photo of me from the front!
All that’s missing is something matching to go around my neck…
…Watch this space – kit no. 2 from Purl Alpaca coming up!!

Well that will keep you nice and warm in the winter, can’t wait to see the scarf. I finished a hat the other week, but the pattern, even though it said it was for an adult, ended up fitting my 8 year old niece, so I gave my first knitted piece of work to her. She loved it. Your hat will look fantastic with your cat mittens. I really do love those mittens.
Great hat. I love the way the pattern comes together at the back. It suits you – I’m a glasses wearer too and I think glasses are even more of a problem to accommodate than hair but you definitely pull it off.
Has the yarn got a bit of a crimp?
I love the hat and alpaca seems like a great yarn for it!
