Reknitting the body of Flossie really didn’t take very long – and I’m glad I did it.
I clearly should have made the small size – silly Susan 🙁
A quick note on yarn amounts – the pattern calls for 12 balls for medium and 10 for a small. I got the medium out of 9 balls and the small out of 8 – Grrr.
The good news is I’m pleased with her and I look about 4 sizes smaller now when I wear her 😀
Want to see a before and after shot?
That shot doesn’t quite show how dramatic the difference was but believe me – it was worth it!
And Purcey thinks so too!
Now a quick Completed Knit Report and on to another winter warmer which I have whizzed through!
Completed Knit Report | ||
Name: | Flossie | |
Pattern: | By Martin Storey from Easy Winter Knits
Yarn: | Rowan Drift | |
Pattern Problems: | Yarn amounts over estimated significantly( and sizing – I made the medium which came up bang on size but too big for me so had to reknit in a small)
Pattern Modifications: | None
Washing and Wearing: | Extremely warm and snuggly but the big collar makes eating soup a challenge…(ask me how I know)
Knit It Again???: | Yes but not for a long time – one of these in the wardrobe is enough
Difficulty: | Easy | |
Rating: | 4/5 | |
Other Postings Relating To This One: | Should have known better |
That looks so cosy Susan. But I have to say, Lord Purcey’s tail completely steals the show! It’s magnificent. I don’t suppose you loan him out for dusting blinds do you? It would be perfect!!
It’s so much better in the smaller size and Purcey is lovely too
That looks much better. You look gorgeous in it.
Now that’s more like it! And when did Purcey develop that magnificent tail?!
I would like this pattern but can’t seem to buy it… anywhere.
Hi Karen – the book it’s from is “Easy Winter Kniits” – it’s available here (and other places)

Happy knitting
Susan
can you tell me the best way to block & wash this? I have finished front & back, about to start sleeves. But am scared what will happen when blocking or washing. How did you achieve such a good look as defined by photos above?
Kind Regards, Carol
