Wow – 6 years of blogging – I must be mad, or I just don’t know how to stop đ
Or it has been rather rewarding and you lovely readers have kept me going – thanks for keeping on visiting đ
So as is my Blogiversary tradition, I’ll give you my summary of 2012…
…And as I appear not to have done a Blogiversary post in 2011, I’ll give you a quick summary of 2011 too!
Firstly, my blog post rate is shamefully down.
- 2012 – 26 Blog Posts
- 2011 – 30 Blog Posts
- 2010 â 36 Blog Posts
- 2009 â 35 Blog Posts
- 2008 â 69 Blog Posts
- 2007 â 87 Blog Posts
Maybe I should post more often with shorter, less rambling posts? Next year I will set a target of at least 2 posts a month and try and include some shorter snappier posts too!
But what did I knit? Was it worth looking at?  And did it ever get worn?
Click the name of the garment to be taken to the Completed Knit Report – Enjoy đ

Happy Blogoversary. 6 years that is a whole lot of posts
Wow Susan, you have been busy. I am still on my first scarf, mind you I have only just started knitting, so hopefully in a few years I will be able to knit some, note some of the items you knit. I love the Union Flag cardigan. When do you think I would be able to tackle something like that, was it difficult to knit? I just love it.
Hi Lynne
Thanks! đ
You could easily knit a cardigan in the Flag style in one colour but I’d wait a while before you try to work the union flag design.
The basic shape is knitting a huge rectangle of Garter Stitch (knit every row) , leaving some holes for your arms to poke through, picking up the stitches and knitting plain arms. Easy!
The trouble comes with all the different colours – you end up with 13 separate balls of yarn to manage and needing some pretty advance intasia and fairisle techniques for carrying the yarn backwards and forwards along the row to where you want it and joining in new colours. It’s also a huge project with a LOT of knitting for a beginner to take on – I would fear that you’d give up and get bored half way through (I nearly did!)
Have you looked at the 4 blog posts?
this is the “finished garment” post, other blog posts are listed at the end…

You’ll see the links to Helen Magnusson’s site for useful help and the contraption I had to build to stop the 13 balls of yarn tangling (!)
If you really want to attempt it I’m happy to meet up with you and show you the tricks
Susan
Happy blogiversary!
Happy Blogiversary, Susan!
Wow! What an achievement! Yours was one of the first knitting blogs I came across. I remember the tales of Thug and Mewsley with great fondness!
