Have you ever knit an identical garment to one you’ve knit before and already have? On purpose? This week – that’s what I did…
Do you remember how much trouble
the lovely Ben was in after he put my beautiful Purl Soho Pullover through the washing machine and shrank it? ….It was only my favorite sweater, made with expensive yarn that was a souvenir of my first trip to New York…nothing special! 😮
This one: –>>> The Purl Soho Pullover
These days, if a knitted item needs washing it has a note like this attached when it is left near the laundry pile…
I made a replacement 🙂
As part of the work project that’s been absorbing so much of my knitting time, I needed to travel to New York again last June. Happy, Happy! I did manage to get some free time and squeezed in a trip to Purl Soho to but the exact same yarn again. I thought about buying a different colour but then thought, “Why?” I loved the original “Desert Blue”!
All the details of the pattern are on my previous post –>> The Purl Soho Pullover and it really is knit exactly the same. even the freakishly clever way the 3 tubes of sleeves and body are joined like this…
It only took 12 days to knit as it’s on 5mm needles and I was pretty enthusiastic about getting my favorite pullover back!
So Here she is – The Purl Soho Pullover – no.2!!
This time I forgot to shorten the sleeves a little as I was rushing but that’s easily remedied – I just roll them up a little more…
And the original Purl Soho Sweater? After sobbing over it, I left it on the dining room table where Kitty found it…It is now Kitty’s move favorite bed and has been wash several times more (as cat beds are!) and is now quite a few sizes smaller!!
|Completed Knit Report|
|Name:||2nd Purl Soho Pullover|
|Pattern:||by Purl Bee of Purl Soho|
|Yarn:||Purl Soho’s own Worsted Twist in Desert Blue|
|Pattern Problems:||Measurement appears to be wrong for medium size body length – should be 17.75″.
Only used 7 of the 8 skeins called for.
Other than that, really clear and well written pattern.
|Washing and Wearing:||Warm and cosy – looks smart enough for work (on a Friday) and great with jeans.|
|Knit It Again???:||Yes – I already am eyeing up some ancient worsted from my stash.|
|Difficulty:||Easy (except the joining up of the sleeves a bit of a mind bender if you’ve not done it before but pictures on Ravelry help!)|
