Some of my knitting choices are so awful, you just have to point and laugh.
I’d hate you to run away with the idea that everything I knit is fabulous and beautiful and effortless!
We had just gone into Covid lockdown, April 2020 and I wanted some plain, easy, mindless knitting. At the time – it was really hard to get yarn online because Covid impacting supplies, staffing and deliveries so I raided my ample stash and found this lovely.
Predictably, I turned up my nose at the safe roll neck jumpers and went for the cover design, Tender (the one on the left).
Ben was not sure, “You’re going to knit that? What is it?” (That response should have been a warning!)
“A jumper”, I said. “Sort of bat wingish…”
“Oh, a Pipistrelle then.” Said Ben – So she was named Pipistrelle. (The most common British bat)
My yarn was wound into beautiful little cakes and I excitedly sat and knit the 9 skein beast quickly…
I had expected something beautiful, drapey and languid -like the Rowan photo. (Rowan’s photos rarely represent reality!!)
Instead I got this monstrosity …
The only bat-like thing about it is the “old bat” wearing it!
Even the back is no better…
Pipistrelle was a pleasureable knit but is so not my kinda garment – others have knit her and are very happy. No. No. No. Not for me.
She sat in the backof the wardrobe for over a year before I finally needed the space and sent ther to the charity shop.
I’ll never learn – Chunky knits don’t work on me
I hope that gave you a chuckle 😀

I think you could easily wear that to an Abba themed fancy dress party. I love the colours.
I think it is probably the yarn. I am drawn to the multi colour but it invariably looks like some awful 70’s throwback.
The shape is actually really nice on you.
Am I wrong to think that at least I am not the only one who knits some ‘not so attractive’ things. Even when I know something is not for me I keep going and the charity shop benefits, you are not alone.
I had a similar knitting disaster with Noro Silk Garden. It looked absolutely dreadful on me and went to a charity shop too! I even reknitted it to a different pattern and it was still hideous!
