Ben was flying off to Seattle again for work. Shamefully, I still hadn’t knit either of the beautiful skeins of yarn he had bought me back from Yarn Dragon in Pike Place. He’s a good man – going into a yarn shop on his own, discussing my yarn preferences with the staff and bringing back well chosen surprises. Although I have considered sending Yarn Dragon a photo of the lovely Ben with a message, “If you see this man looking for wife-treats, please send him home with XXX”!!! 🤔
I wanted to use this beauty –Yarn Dragon’s Sophistisock – to make another Rock It Tee by Tanis Lavallee as I’m wearing my last one a lot!
The original pattern calls for stripes with 2 strands of Rowan Kidsilk Haze (laceweight). My stash diving came up with the perfect colours of Rowan Fine Lace instead…but yellow or green?
I swatched. Then had the inspired (or obvious!) idea to try a strand of each…Which do you prefer?
I thought the green was muddy and the yellow too dominant. The mix was just right, picking up the subtle colours in the lovely sock yarn.
I told you all about the Rock It Tee’s construction in my post Rocking Those Stripes, so I won’t bore you with detail again.
Very briefly:
- Top down V neck
- Eyelet pattern raglan seams and side seams
- Stripes
- I-cord bindoff edging on sleeves, neck and hem
Wanna see her?
Here’s the back, eyelet and icord bindoff detail…
After multiple photos prancing around the green garden with yellowing autumnal leaves…
I thought I would hide, camouflaged, in the bamboo!
Can you see me?
