At my new job, we are given one day a year to do something for charity as part of our corporate responsibility program.
Wonderful!
But what could I do? What unique skill do I have to help a charity?
I have made these little hats for The Big Knit (a fundraising thing helped by Innocent Smoothies to raise money for Age UK) before but really didn’t seem to have the spare time to make them lately…then there was my work saying I could have whole day…
In case you’re curious, my previous attempts were
Here->>Innocent Smoothie Hat Addiction
Here ->> An Afternoon in the Garden
And here->>I’m Innocent Again
So what does one working day’s worth of hat knitting look like?
21 little hats!
So you can see the detail, I called in my trusty china hat models, Burt and Ernie…
A pair of divas…
Unfortunately, Burt and Ernie squabbled so much I decided Ernie (left) could have the modelling gig on his own…
Here are Ernie’s “close ups”…
Some plain ones to get started…
Stripes…
Green stripes (I’m enjoying playing with the colours I had available now)
A very strange bobbly weird one and more stripes
Big stripes and a three colour intarsia (purple panel at the back!!)
Fun with fairisle..
Fairisle dots…
At this point I’d exhausted colour combinations and started on my sock stash, using it double… (and some 70’s random dye yarn on the right there!)
I made three of these because the colours were so pretty!
More sock yarn creations
Finally, Burt decided he was missing out. Ever naughty – he photo-bombed!
so lovely…
You are ‘Wonder Knitting Woman’. I love Burt and Ernie too.
The hats are fantastic. Well done.
Every one of these treasures is delightful! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
Amazing Sue – and what an inspirational and responsible company!! Xxxx
Great job Susan and a nice idea that your company has.
